Objective:
This six-month program teaches you how to collect, store, analyze, and present spatial and geographic data using GIS software and technologies. You will learn computer basics, the fundamentals of GIS and cartography, map reading, coordinate systems and projections, and the types of spatial data (raster and vector). You will then learn QGIS and ArcGIS in practice, including digitization, georeferencing, attribute data handling, spatial analysis, buffer and overlay operations, map layout design, and map printing. The course also covers remote sensing basics, satellite image interpretation, GPS and GNSS data collection, an introduction to web GIS and Google Earth, and applications of GIS in urban planning, agriculture, land records, utilities, and disaster management. With regular hands-on practice in the computer lab and a live final project, such as preparing a village or city map with spatial analysis, you build the skills to start as a GIS operator, GIS technician, mapping assistant, or remote sensing analyst, work in government departments, survey and mapping agencies, town planning offices, and private GIS companies, work as a freelance mapping professional, or move on to advanced courses such as Remote Sensing, Advanced GIS, and Python for GIS.
Hands-on classroom and lab-oriented learning with assignments and projects.
Online classes, course videos, notes, notices and student portal services.
Examinations, result tracking and transparent academic progress records.
Approved course credential with certificate number and online verification.
